How to set up Family Sharing?

One adult in the family – the organizer – can set up Apple Family Sharing for the group from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
On your iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings on an individual or shared iOS device.
- Tap your name at the top to access your Apple ID.
- Tap Family Sharing, then tap Set Up Your Family
- Follow the on-screen prompts to invite family members.
On your Mac
- Go to the Apple menu and select System Settings > Your name > Family Sharing
- Click Set Up Family
- Follow the onscreen prompts to invite your family members.
Add family members:
You can add family members by sending them an invitation via iMessage or by creating an Apple ID for a child.
To add family members via iMessage:
- Go to Settings > Family
- Tap "Invite Family Members."
- Enter the Apple ID of the person you want to invite and choose whether to send an invitation via iMessage or invite them in person.
To add a child's account:
- Tap "Create a Child Account."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new Apple ID for your child.
On your Mac
- Choose Apple menu > System Settings > Family > Add Member, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Family Sharing is a convenient way to share Apple services and purchases with your family members while maintaining individual accounts and personal content.
